HEALTH AND SAFETY
96 Years of Safe Sailing
At Camp Letts, your child's safety is our No. 1 concern. Our excellent safety record pays tribute to the mature, well-trained, experienced instructors we hire every season, each of whom is U.S. Sailing certified with first aid and CPR credentials. In addition, our professionally maintained fleet of more than
40 boats meets all U.S. Coast Guard requirements.
Safety
We have an outstanding record for safety throughout our 96 years of service. Safety is of prime importance during all activities. At Camp
Letts, campers are allowed every possible freedom within the limits of safety. There is one counselor for every six campers in a cabin group.
Aquatic Safety
YMCA Camp Letts is bordered by water on three sides, so aquatic safety is one of our main concerns. For this reason, all campers' skills are evaluated to determine their swimming ability and are placed in appropriate swimming classes. Use of boats for instruction is limited by swimming ability. Campers may check out boats for recreational use as they become qualified.
Health Care
In the event that medical care is needed, our Health Center is ready and well-equipped.
One of our certified medical personnel is always on duty and a physician is on call. In addition, it is comforting to know that our entire staff is trained in emergency procedures, and many are certified as Emergency Medical Technicians or in First Aid. Additional medical facilities and emergency services are only minutes away in nearby Annapolis.
Meals
We recognize that a healthy diet is an important factor in a successful camp experience. At Camp
Letts, we serve three well-balanced meals daily in our clean, spacious dining hall. Our food service staff strives to provide a nutritious and appetizing menu that includes salads, fresh fruits, low fat milk, as well as vegetarian options. All menus are approved by professional dieticians
and follow guidelines set forth by the Maryland State Department of
Agriculture.
