Boys and girls interested in a camp program with special emphasis on horseback riding or sailing can choose from
Opti-Camp, Seafarers and Horsemasters. Campers will enjoy many of our
Traditional Camp activities-such as swimming, sports, arts and crafts and
more-while building their sailing or riding skills through several
concentrated activity periods each day.
Seafarers
This premier specialty program, designed for boys and girls ages 12 to 16 who may already know how to sail or who enjoy being in, on or around the water all day-brings campers together as a team to develop their own daily itinerary, independent from the camp routine. In addition to sailing and racing our fleet of Lasers, opportunities exist to learn spinnaker work on Flying Scots, cruise overnight on one of our Bay Cruisers, explore our High Adventure Ropes Course, and enjoy
waterskiing, swimming and canoeing. Swimming evaluation is required.
Horsemasters
Campers from 8 to 16 years old who wish to challenge their skills and proficiency spend three periods a day, focusing on riding and horsemanship. Participants are assigned a horse to care for and work with in daily mounted and unmounted sessions. Activities include dressage, jumping, trail rides, games, drill rides,
and swimming with horses. Because of the advanced nature of
Horsemasters, we recommend that prospective applicants presently be involved in year-round lessons. A letter of recommendation from the child's instructor is
required for best placement in the program. Riders MUST be proficient at the walk, trot and canter, and comfortable jumping low fences.
Our equestrian staff are all CHA certified.
